Terms of Service
The agreement between you and EMconvert when you use the site, the in-browser converters, or a paid plan.

1. Who we are
EMconvert (emconvert.com) is operated by the team that publishes it. Write to [email protected] and we will give you the operating entity's registered name and address, and an address for service of legal notices.
By using the site you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the site.
2. What the service does
Almost every EMconvert tool runs entirely inside your browser. Your file is read from your own disk by the page, converted by code already downloaded to your device, and handed back to you as a download — the bytes never travel to us, because the app has no endpoint that accepts them.
EMconvert is a general-purpose file-conversion tool. We do not host a media or document library, and we do not index, curate or search anyone else's content. Some tools listed on the site are not built yet: those say so on the page and produce nothing, rather than returning a file that is not a real conversion.
The AI features are the exception to the paragraph above, and are described in section 4.
3. What a conversion is, and is not
A file converter is an approximation, not a guarantee of fidelity. Several tools are deliberately simple and the tool page says which engine it uses. In particular:
- PDF to Word extracts the text of a PDF into a real .docx; it does not reconstruct the original layout, and it cannot read text that only exists as pixels in a scan.
- Word to PDF and Markdown to PDF lay the text out fresh; fonts, tables and images from the source are not preserved.
- "Compress PDF" is a lossless re-save. On a file that is already efficiently stored it may save little or nothing.
- "Upscale image" resamples the picture to a larger size. It is not AI super-resolution and it cannot invent detail the original does not contain.
- Audio and video tools re-encode your file, which is lossy by nature.
4. AI features
AI features do not run in your browser. When you use one, the text you type is sent to our servers, which is the only way an answer can be produced. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what is transmitted and kept.
AI is always metered in credits, on every plan including free ones. If an AI call fails on our side, the credits held for it are released back to your wallet.
5. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the files you convert and for what you do with the results. You must have the right to make the copy you are asking for.
- Only convert files you own, files you have permission to convert, or files whose licence or applicable law allows it.
- Do not use the service to remove or circumvent DRM, password protection or other technical protection measures.
- Do not use the service to infringe copyright, publicity, privacy or trade-mark rights.
- Do not automate, scrape or resell our endpoints, and do not attempt to bypass rate limits, quotas or abuse protections.
- Do not process unlawful material, including material that sexually exploits minors.
- Keep your own copy of anything that matters. Because conversion happens on your device, a crashed tab or a closed window loses the output and we have no copy to send you.
6. Accounts, plans and credits
The free tier works without an account, subject to the daily conversion limit and file-size cap shown on the pricing page. A paid plan or a credit top-up requires one.
Subscription credits reset at the start of each billing period and do not roll over. Purchased top-up credits do not expire and are spent only after the monthly allowance. AI features are always metered, including on free plans.
Prices are shown before you pay. We may change prices for future billing periods with notice; a change never applies retroactively to a period you already paid for.
7. Refunds
Contact [email protected] within 14 days of a charge and we will refund a paid plan in full. Where an AI call fails through our fault, the credits are returned to your wallet automatically. Statutory rights, where they apply to you, are not affected.
8. Availability and changes
The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Because the work happens on your device, speed and success depend on your browser and on how much memory your device has: very large files can fail on a phone and succeed on a laptop, and that is not a fault we can fix from our side.
Audio and video tools additionally need a one-time engine download of roughly 31 MB before the first conversion. If that download is blocked or unavailable, those tools report the failure rather than pretending to convert.
We may add, change, limit or remove features, including free-tier limits.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, nor for loss of data, profits or goodwill — including any loss arising from a conversion that was imperfect, incomplete or unsuccessful. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 50.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access that breaches these Terms, abuses the infrastructure, or exposes us to legal risk. You can stop using the service at any time; if you have an account you can delete it, which deletes the associated personal data as described in the Privacy Policy.
11. Governing law
We will confirm the governing jurisdiction in writing on request at [email protected]. Whatever it turns out to be, it does not remove any mandatory consumer-protection right you have where you live. This English version governs; any translation is provided for convenience only.
